Two Control Panels needed for 2.1: Navigation + Search

We need two control panels in 2.1 that take care of the configuration of the navigation and the search behaviour.

Some of the settings that should be exposed are:

Navigation

Types to list (Folder + Smart Folders by default) Folders in global tabs on/off (on by default) Any other properties from /portal_properties/navtree_properties/

Search

---

Blacklisted types list LiveSearch on/off (on by default)

We need to discuss why the types to list changed from a blacklist to a whitelist, btw. I still think that a blacklist makes more sense.

We should probably also have a "states to list" selection box that affects the tree - empty (all) by default.

Is it possible to set the folders in global tabs in a state such as the following

a> global on/off by default b> override with manager privileges on a per folder basis or c> release to groups on login feature.

To Mr. Anonymous User: This is what workflow is for! Set the relevant permissions and assign those permissions to the workflow, and users of a certain class will see them. Not related to this issue in general, go to the mailing lists if you need more info.

I have implemented the Search control panel in the https://svn.plone.org/svn/plone/CMFPlone/branches/jok2-search-configlet/ branch

The search control panel is merged into the 2.1 branch and changed to select the types which should be searched, thanks to shh, fschulze and optilude.
