"external_edit" icon missing from items

Description

If I create a folder and make a document inside it, then go to the folder_contents with another user, I do not see the external editor icon for the document. However, if I go to the ZMI in the same folder there is an icon for the external_edit and it works. I've given all permissions to the users role. The user can edit, delete, create anything in the folder with full permissions. If they create a document in the folder, they get an ee icon for that document but not for the others.

Nevermind. My problem is deeper then this. Users in my created role have complete access to the directory, but not to the documents within for some reason. I don't know whats going on yet, but I'm almost positive that it's not a bug.
