False claim of XHTML correctness

Reported by: Anonymous User Owned by:
Priority: critical Milestone: Past
Component: Templates/CSS Version:

Description

The W3C icon at the bottom of this page claims compliance with XHTML 1.0 transitional. One of the people who run this site ought to click the icon, then read 'em and weep. False claims like this do no one any good. Get that logo removed or fix the code. I can't be bothered to check the rest but I have doubts about them too. You should be ashamed of lying like that.

On a community site where people can enter their own HTML like on plone.org, this is impossible to enforce. What we're advertising is that Plone itself is fully XHTML compliant. If you find a bug in our templates, please let us know - if not, please contact the authors of that particular page.

This answer is rubbish. There are plenty of pages on plone.org, this one authored by Alexander Limi -  http://plone.org/contact, for instance, which fail. That is not a result of being a community site is it? You really shouldn't be making false claims about compliance. You should fix it or loose the logo.

 http://plone.org/documentation  http://plone.org/foundation

These also fail. 3 out of 8 pages on the navigation tabs on the home page.

Alexander, you ARE the author of some of those pages! So I did contact you.

Look, insulting people from the development team will not get you anywhere. Either submit patches or offer to help out - or find another rewarding hobby.

We do have more important things to tend to than twiddling HTML these days, you know. If you want to help out, you are more than welcome, but your attitude to this makes me suspect you are not interested.

Come back if you have something useful to contribute.
